Community Stories 'Capturing the essence of the community through the spirit of the people'

The Stirling Alliance is charged with delivering a city vision that is being developed in collaboration with the community.  In order to reflect the historical and cultural flavour of this place, we would like to hear from community members about their personal experiences. 

Young or old, we would love to hear your stories/memories about the Stirling City Centre area to share with your community.

Perhaps you are an elder member of the community who can remember the ‘old Innaloo School’ known as ‘Njooky’ which closed in 1955, or can you remember a different Herdsman Lake with less development around it? What was this like and how does it contrast with the city today?

Maybe you currently work in a community focused role such as teaching or nursing. What is a typical day like for you? Do you own a shop or run a local business?

Do you currently attend a school in the area, what is this like?  Where are your favourite places and why? Where do you and your friends like to hang out and why? Where is your favourite place to go with your family? What would you like to see in Stirling? What is your favourite memory of the city?

What will we do with your stories?

• Selected stories will be posted on the Stirling City Centre website.
• Stories may be used in other promotional materials or printed literature.
• Emerging themes from your stories will help us understand the cultural texture of the centre, to be reflected in urban form and landscape designs.

Important - Please note if you choose to submit a story it may be used for marketing purposes in promotional material such as newsletters, printed literature or the Stirling Alliance website.

Please include your name, address and telephone number with your story. We will not be able to use your story without this information.
