Community Wellbeing

Stirling City Centre strives to become a sustainable 21st century city – a place for everyone. It will be a hub for a diverse and prosperous community, offering wellbeing.

Our Community Wellbeing vision: Community.....a city for people

The Stirling City Centre aims to provide opportunities for all residents and workers to participate in a healthy and safe community that:
• Offers a diverse choice of housing options ranging from affordable, apartment style living, to larger family style homes
• Has a minimum of around 25,000 people
• Provides equal opportunity to engage in diverse community activities
• Offers open spaces for use by people of all ages integrated with an urban city setting

Social sustainability

A socially sustainable society ensures excellent quality of life for current and future generations.

Social sustainability promotes:

  • Equity
  • Understanding
  • Diversity
  • Inclusion
  • Quality of life
  • Opportunity
  • Individual empowerment

When we live in such a society, we enjoy life, we enjoy our neighbours company, we live with the ‘greater good’ in mind and look beyond ourselves to consider the needs of others as well. Our primary goal is to create a city with a strong sense of community. As the people’s city, Stirling will practice social sustainability by ensuring its planning decisions are based on what is best for the community.

Our commitment to community involvement is bringing us one step closer to creating a community we all want to live in.

See Our Alliance approach section for more information about how the community is involved in this project.
