Why Stirling?

Stirling has long been identified as an important regional centre with the potential to reinvigorate surrounding suburbs, and is primed to develop a new city. The Department for Planning and Infrastructure (DPI) has studied the strategic importance of Stirling in terms of employment, services, location and economic significance, and has determined it is the first choice region for a major centre outside the Perth inner city area.

In terms of city essentials, Stirling boasts:

  • Natural amenities – lakes and parklands
  • Jobs – demand for employment
  • Multi-modal transport
  • Location – close to Perth City and ocean
  • Mixed land use – residential, industrial, commercial
  • Active citizens who support the creation of a new city
  • Land to develop
