Social Sustainability

A socially sustainable society ensures excellent quality of life for current and future generations. When we live in such a society, we enjoy life, we enjoy our neighbours company, we live with the ‘greater good’ in mind and look beyond ourselves to consider the needs of others as well.

Our primary goal is to create a city with a strong sense of community. As the people’s city, Stirling will practice social sustainability by ensuring its planning decisions are based on what is best for the community. Our commitment to community involvement is bringing us one step closer to creating a community we all want to live in.

Social sustainability promotes:

  • Equity
  • Understanding
  • Diversity
  • Inclusion
  • Quality of life
  • Opportunity
  • Idividual empowerment

So what are your thoughts about social sustainability?

How could Stirling become a socially sustainable city?

What can you do to strengthen the social sustainability in your own life?

Do you have any conflicts with the concept of social sustainability? If so, what are they?
