Accessibility and Urban Form
Stirling City Centre strives to become a sustainable 21st century city – a place for everyone. It will be a hub for a diverse and prosperous community, offering wellbeing.
Our Accessibility and Urban Form vision: Moving people with choice and efficiency
Stirling’s proximity to the train and bus station provides excellent opportunities for development to encourage the use of public transport over private vehicle use. Included in the transport plan for the new city are:
• Options for extension of the train station to incorporate a land bridge and underground and multi-level parking
• Improved rail system access and capacity
• Potential for a light rail route, connecting the train station with the retail, commercial and health precincts
• Enhanced public transport
• Inclusion of cycling routes and pedestrian footpaths suitable for wheelchair access
• A path along the length of a continuous green corridor and urban stream
